The Indian Software industry acquired significance in the year 1967, when the country got its first major Information Technology (IT) Company – Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Over the last 15 years, Indian IT service exports have grown close to 100 times to $100 bn. The industry has experienced shocks like the Dotcom bust and the economic meltdown of 2009. Yet, today the industry still stands on a strong footing contributing ~7.5% of the country’s GDP.
